Dance on the Forum’s iconic rooftop
One of the venues where Sebastiaan handles programming is the Forum in Groningen. He says, “There we started Rooftop Session in 2019: now the flagship festival on the Forum’s iconic roof. This dance party with 400 people in attendance is always sold out within 24 hours. Because of this success, and to allow more people to enjoy this unique venue, we are now launching a low-threshold, free-to-attend variant: the Sunset Session.
Away from the city noise
The Sunset Session is all about the magical moment of sunset. Sebastiaan: “Celebrate life, celebrate sunset. Sunset is a magical moment. In other countries it is very normal to celebrate it, we will do the same. A city sunset has a different color composition than the one by the sea, which is very cool. Enjoying a moment like that takes you out of the rush.” NOK’s rooftop bar is a unique spot, one of the few rooftop terraces in Europe with a 360-degree view. “
More than just enjoying a sunset
The Sunset Sessions are every Wednesday through Sunday starting in late May, but only if it’s at least 20 degrees. Sebastiaan: “We start from 5 p.m., until an hour after sunset. In the summer we also add food courses; tasty snacks from the green egg, for example.” So a Sunset Session is much more than enjoying a sunset with good music. “We have a whole list of DJs, musicians and performers.
