In March 2023, Vermaat hosted Food Vision Lunches at four sustainable locations throughout the Netherlands. These meetings were marked by the launch of Vermaat's new Food Vision 2027, with a focus on working together to become more sustainable together. The event brought together clients and partners to discuss and strengthen the shared vision of sustainability, health and social impact.

One of the venues was Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden, an iconic building that brings together science, nature and sustainability. Naturalis, known for its world-class research institute and educational museum, is also an excellent choice for corporate events. The building was designed with a focus on sustainability, making it an inspiring venue for meetings that want to create impact. The location perfectly reflected Vermaat’s core values of responsibility, innovation and respect for nature.

This setting created space for dialogue and collaboration, while guests enjoyed an innovative 3-course lunch menu developed by chef René van der Weijden of Hemel & Aarde restaurant in Utrecht. The all-vegetable dishes, combined with surprising tea pairings, impressed and reinforced the sustainable message.

A shared journey into the future
During the luncheons, guests were invited to participate in a symbolic journey into the ideal world of food and drink. The conversations were not only about the shared destination – a world where sustainability, health and social impact are central – but also about the baggage: best practices and experiences that serve as building blocks. Dilemmas were also discussed, as real change requires difficult choices and collaboration.

Making impact together
The Food Vision Lunches went beyond just sharing a vision. They are designed to inspire guests, but also to actively invite them to collaborate on ambitious goals in the areas of diversity, inclusivity, health, responsible sourcing, waste reduction and carbon reduction. Naturalis played a key role in this as a place where nature, science and sustainability come together – a powerful reminder that working together is essential for a future in which we live with respect for our planet.
